 TUESDAY VIOLENCE - MARABOU

Last Friday I had the privilege to attend the Bridge City Sinners gig at Trefpunt in Ghent.  The gig was completely sold out but thanks to some great people (you know who you are) I still could go. The icing on the cake was that Tuesday Violence opened for BCS. Tuesday Violence is a Belgian (and a little bit of Dutch) trio that brings querky primitive garage punk... with an organ.

And this (vintage) organ is important. Next to the straight in your face guitar rifs and pounding drums this organ provides a haunting atmosphere to the songs that throws you straight back to the sixties. All this combined with great vocals and an endless source of energy makes it almost impossible to stay unmoved by their show.

The reason I chose Marabou was completely random. It could have been any of their songs, they are all amazing. Just check out the rest of their songs and I think you will know what I mean. Better yet, check them out live. I'm sure they will play somewhere in your neighbourhood soon, don't hesitate...and you're welcome for the tip !!

ALPS. - WANT YOU NOW

 ALPS. - WANT YOU NOW Life is full of surprises.  Sometimes it gives you lemons, sometimes it gives you Alps..  At The Black Flamingo we really are blessed with the people that come visit us.  No matter how big or small the audience, they give the artists all the attention they deserve.  One day Jesse came over to watch a show here.  I didn't knew who he was but someone pointed out to me that he also was a musician and a songwriter.  After a little research (hurrah for socials) I came across two of his projects, Alps. and CYNN' (more about CYNN' later, I'm sure). For me Alps. is more than songs.  When I close my eyes while listening to them I can almost feel the scenery passing by.  Want You Now in particular makes me feel like being somewhere on a mountain pasture (Alps.?) and it's my perfect waking up song after a stressy week or a heavy night. I already had the privilege to see them perfom live and what a show that was ! Go check them out if you get the chance.
