BERANG - EVERY OTHER YEAR 

Berang is the indie/folk project of songwriter and guitar player Bert Janssens. Sometimes acoustic, sometimes electric. Even sad from time to time, but always full of hope. And a tiny hint of punk peeks around the corner. He got inspired by Elliott Smith, Kurt Vile and Frank Turner.

For me Every Other Year is a song that is filled with hope. It has got this drive to keep me going and it brings me positive vibes every time I hear it. Next week Berang will be playing at The Black Flamingo together with Freddie Webber (must write about one of his songs too) and I must say I'm really stoked about it.

I chose this video in particular where Berang is performing in the Rua room. Songs From The Rua Room is a YouTube channel created by Daithi Rua. It's a real treasury that showcases awesome songwriting talent from Belgium and beyond. You can find out more about The Rua Room here.

 ALPS. - WANT YOU NOW Life is full of surprises.  Sometimes it gives you lemons, sometimes it gives you Alps..  At The Black Flamingo we really are blessed with the people that come visit us.  No matter how big or small the audience, they give the artists all the attention they deserve.  One day Jesse came over to watch a show here.  I didn't knew who he was but someone pointed out to me that he also was a musician and a songwriter.  After a little research (hurrah for socials) I came across two of his projects, Alps. and CYNN' (more about CYNN' later, I'm sure). For me Alps. is more than songs.  When I close my eyes while listening to them I can almost feel the scenery passing by.  Want You Now in particular makes me feel like being somewhere on a mountain pasture (Alps.?) and it's my perfect waking up song after a stressy week or a heavy night.  THE AX EFFECT - GET WASTED Dutch band The Ax Effect is back, and they're hitting harder than ever with their latest single, "Get Wasted," straight off their newest album, "Made For This." Hailing from Brabant, these guys are no strangers to blending genres, and "Get Wasted" is a prime example of their unique concoction of hard rock, metal, punk, and just a dash of blues, all fused together to create what they proudly dub as Lumberjack Rock.
